Minneapolis, Minnesota. In a pre-season dress rehearsal against Miami, you should be ready to go, but Mike Zimmer’s boys were clearly not ready in any facet of the game. Miami, however, was the sharper of the two teams, and the stats would bear that out. Miami out-passed the Purple 286 yards to 197. And, to make matters worse, quarterback Taylor Heinicke ended up on the sidelines with a concussion and unable to play. It will be some time before we know his future with the Vikings. Mitch Leidner guided the Vikings on their only productive drive of the night, but he and Heinicke were put on their backs five times by the Miami defense, and this was unacceptable. Peter Morelli, the Referee, threw the laundry at the Vikings eight times, and in that situation, you’re not going to win many games. Miami coach Adam Gase, I don’t care if you come from the school of Peyton Manning, what you did late in the fourth quarter when you challenged the call that Caleb Jones was out of bounds, was a total classless move! It reminded me of something that Steve Spurrier or Jim Harbaugh would do. The Vikings gave it a nice effort, but it has to be better against New Orleans.
