It started out as a tropical storm, but by the end of the night the black and gold of New Orleans were unable to respond to the hurricane that hit them at U.S. Bank Stadium on Monday night. As for former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, he was held in check by his former teammates defense for a total of 18 yards rushing in 6 attempts. Meanwhile, “Main Man” Sam Bradford was on fire for the Vikings as he lit up the Saints young defense for 346 yards passing completing 27 in 32 attempts for 3 touchdowns, two to wide receiver Stefon Diggs and the other to tight end Kyle “Run Run” Rudolph.

New Orleans offense was held to four field goals for the first 58 minutes of the game before their first touchdown on a pass to Coby Fleener from Drew Brees making the final score 29-19 in favor of the purple.

Other notable performances besides the Vikings dominant defense was the play of the offensive line which allowed rookie Dalvin Cook to rush for 127 yards and gave Bradford time to pass for 157 yards to wide receiver Adam Thielen, allowing only one sack for the evening.

It was very exciting for me to listen to the radio broadcast of Vikings play by play man Paul Allen and analyst Pete Bercich as they described the handling of the Saints by the Vikings on both sides of the ball last night. Hopefully the Vikings can carry this momentum into next Sundays game in Pittsburgh against the Steelers.
