For those of you who were optimistic going into this year’s season that the Boilers were going to get six wins, and were going to get competitive with the new coaching staff, I might have agreed with you earlier in the season. It doesn’t matter who the coach is, the Boilermakers are just an awful team, and there is nothing worse than a 56-0 loss. To Ohio State of all people! At least the Boilers have their Old Oaken Bucket that they can play for, and make it look like their Rose Bowl. It’s not Mr. Gaston’s fault. The bad part about this is that senior Bruce Gaston will never have another chance to hear the whistle again! I do think that Bruce is a good football player, I just think that some of his other teammates don’t have the heart that it takes to play Boilermaker football. While I would like to blame coach Hazell, I’m a better reporter than that. It takes a while to get rid of a losing attitude. If this continues next year, then I would look at Darrell, but right now I think the reason why they have a losing record is because of the former coach, Danny Hope. You can not put the pressure on Darrell after only one year, but you can after 2-3 years. I think people should give Darrell a chance to get some of his recruiting in there.
