Toronto, Canada. You would think that the Tigers would get off to a better start than falling behind five to nothing. It was nice to hear the Blue Jays scored five quick runs, but the Tigers answered with six of their own. It was very rewarding to hear the Tigers with some fight last night. Now tonight is going to be the real test when mad Max goes to the mound. I think the Tigers are going to have a lot of energy tonight, because of who is pitching and what is on the line. Max’s undefeated record is on the line. If you would have told me that Max Scherzer would have a chance to continue the remarkable season, then I would have told you it would have been Justin Verlander. Mad Max has been unreal the first 12 times that Leyland has put him on the mound, so I expect nothing will change tonight. What to watch for tonight: Jose Bautista and his battle with Scherzer. Bautista is a definite guy you want to keep the baseball down and away from. If you leave it up and all over the place, then he will give you trouble all night long! So it’s going to be important for Alex Thomas Avila to be on the same page with Max, and if they have trouble reading each other’s signs, then Alex or Bryan will have to be patient with Max until he gets the right pitch. Also, they can’t get frustrated if Max shakes you off. He knows what he is doing, Scherzer has the art of pitching down to a science! That is why he is 12-0 going into the Rogers Center, and that is also why in my opinion Max is a possible candidate for the CY Young Award. 35 has been awful all year long, and if I was Jim Leyland I would forget about “Purr-lander” because he has given Jim Leyland a lot to roar about instead of giving him something to Purr about. I hate to say this about Justin. I do like the guy a lot, but sometimes your biggest horses cannot be trusted all the time. Whatever is going on with “Purr-lander” is Jeff Jones’ job to figure out and tell Jim Leyland what he and Justin talk about.
