Going into the four game series with the Pirates, the Tigers have a chance to sweep the Detroit portion, and get win number 30 tonight before the series shifts to Pittsburgh for two games. The Pirates are no push overs, but the way Justin was pitching yesterday that’s the way you want him to pitch. He forced the Pirates to walk the plank! First the Tigers got seven strong innings from their starting pitching, and then number 46 Jose Valverde took one of the best hitters in the game and reduced him to nothing, which allowed the Tigers to get nine games over 500. Now the Tigers look for the Detroit portion to sweep the Pirates before they go to “PNT”.
