For the first time since late May, when the Tigers had a five and a half game lead over Cleveland, that lead is no more! Not only did they lose to Tampa Bay, but nobody bothered to show up today except Omar Infante at the Rogers Center. Omar had four hits today. Everytime he went to the plate he had a good solid swing. I would like to be Dave Dombrowski after this one, to ask the players how in heavens name do you lose to a 41-41 team? Also, why is your record only one and three on the current road trip? It doesn’t matter that there are three more games against the Jays, today was a total butt whooping! After a promising rebound from five to nothing, the Tigers starter proceeded to give up a long ball and that was all the momentum that the 41-41 Jays would need. RA Dickey went seven solid innings, and the bullpen of the Jays shut the Tigers anemic offense down. The Tigers now find themselves a game and a half behind the tribe. When are we going to get Anibal back? We need him back because today’s starting pitcher didn’t have his head on straight. You don’t give up a long ball after the team worked really hard to scratch out two runs. I’m glad that I’m not Dave Dombrowski right now because this team is a nightmare! Sorry Tigers fans, but you need someone that will tell you the truth so it might as well be me. You won’t find this material in any of the Michigan newspapers, because there are certain rules when you are in the newspaper business. You can write an editorial on what’s wrong with the team but you have to ok it with Brian Britten. Well maybe you don’t have to, but surely your editor will have to approve of it. This team is at a crossroads and it will be interesting to see if the big man says anything or does anything to get the whole clubhouse out of a nasty situation going on in Detroit. If the Tigers are any good and want to defend their title, they must pull their season out of the fire, and look deep within themselves and see if they have the ability to make it a great season in Detroit. Just like the famous tiger on the tv commercial would say about frosted flakes, this is what the city of Detroit should think about the Tigers, they’re great!
