Minneapolis, MN. For the Tigers, it was time to begin defending their Central Division title, along with their American League title. They won their American League title from the New York Yankees. On the mound yesterday was number 35, Justin Verlander. Who better to have on the mound than Justin Verlander? Verlander finished last year with 17 wins and eight losses. He is the ace of the Tigers’ pitching staff, and he sure pitched like it yesterday, only allowing two runs, as he went five innings. As far as the Tigers’ offense, they scored four runs to help Verlander get to 1-0 on the season. Meanwhile, he has the same record as his teammates. The Tigers jumped on the Twins early, scoring three runs early in the game. It was the same old Twins. The Twins fell to 0-1 on this season. The Twins will look to improve to 1-1 on Wednesday, when they take on the champs again,
with the game starting at 3:05pm Central time. What can you say about number 40 Phil Coke? Coke picked up right where he left off last season. Phil Coke looked like the Tigers’ closer, which goes with what I’ve been saying all along! The Tigers will send number 19 Anibal Sanchez to the mound on Wednesday afternoon. They got him in a late season trade with the Florida Marlins.
