Just when you might have thought last year you had seen the end of the green and gold in championship matchups, in the words of ESPN’s Game Day commentator Lee Corso “Not so fast, my friend”. Chris Klieman and his group of players and coaches have done something no other FBS or FCS school have done before by winning six out of the last seven national FCS football titles.

This year’s group of seniors had a bad taste in their mouth after last year’s loss to the James Madison Dukes in the semi-final game last December played at the Fargodome. To me, this year’s team was a team of destiny to return to Fargo South, better known as Frisco, Texas to play in the championship game one more time against the defending champion Dukes. The credit has to go to the senior class and their willingness to never give up on their goal this year. In my opinion, the Bison play in the toughest FCS football conference there is. This year alone, four other teams made the playoffs from the Missouri Valley Conference. Even though NDSU did not play in the championship game last year, another Missouri Valley team did in Youngstown State.

The expectations are high again for NDSU next season. Several key players return, and once again they will receive everybody’s best effort against them. Don’t be surprised if Coach Klieman and the “Thundering Herd” make a return trip to Frisco one more time.
