The Bismarck Bobcats have moved into sole possession of second place in the NAHL Central Division after dispatching the Austin Bruins twice at home this past weekend, and the first place Aberdeen Wings sweeping of the Minot Minotauros. The Bobcats now have a one point lead over Minot and a three point lead over fourth place Austin. The Bobcats are now on a four game winning streak going into tonight’s home finale against Aberdeen. In addition to going on the road to Brookings for games on Friday and Saturday night against the last place Blizzard, who they hope to melt, they will try to solidify their second place position for home playoff ice at the VFW Sports Center in the first round of the playoffs.

We had a chance to visit with the second leading scorer on this year’s edition of your Bismarck Bobcats, Sam “I am” Malinski. The Lakeville, Mn. product has tallied 42 points on the season, with 14 goals and 28 “apples”. When asked who he would like to play in the playoffs, Malinski did not really indicate who he wanted to victimize. Currently the Bobcats would host the Minotauros in first round action, but anything could happen in the last two weekends of the regular season for finishing in either second, third, or fourth place in the Central Division standings.

Malinski will be attending Cornell University next fall in hopes of helping them return to the NCAA Hockey playoffs again. Sam will be totally focused on helping his Bobcat teammates reach the Robertson Cup Finals and winning the ultimate prize.

We would like to thank Sam for taking the time to visit with the Sheriff’s Patrol on Wednesday and the best of luck in pursuit of the Bobcats dream.
