Indianapolis, Indiana. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. Larry Bird had the year off from what Bird said to the media was due to health issues, but during that year he had the opportunity to see how the Pacers played from the outside. This is the first of many steps to make the Pacers a better team. In my opinion, even though he will have very little to do with the NBA draft, having Larry back in the role of vice president should make the franchise much better in more ways than one. It will make coach Frank Vogel a better coach! This will make the environment around the Pacers better as well. Larry will use his hoosier blood to make the Pacers a better franchise. I am in no way criticizing Donny, so please don’t me wrong Pacers fans. You want my opinion so here it is, which is this is a great move for the Pacers to welcome our NBA legend back home where he belongs. He had a chance to see what the Pacers needed from the outside which is what you want to do to try and make the team better any way possible, so that Pacers fans can have another great season and possibly win another championship. If you can make the right move through free agency, they are one or two players away from bringing the Larry O’Brien trophy home. It will be interesting to follow the NBA draft. Unfortunately we will not get either Cody Zeller or Victor Oladipo, but I do predict that the NBA draft will be full of surprises for the Pacers. That is if they play their cards right. Look for a lot of chirping to come out of Indiana. I’m just glad we got Larry back. Who in the world knows what Donny would have done with our free agent situation? Donny would have put his finger prints on the Pacers in a bad way especially with our free agent. Now that Larry is back you can look for the Pacers to rumble with the Heat again! The guys love playing for vice president Bird, thank you to Mr. Simon for opening your eyes and returning a legend to his state. This means a lot for all of us that are Hoosiers. Thank you again Mr. Simon! Bird is back home again. During his session with the media, Larry kept talking about trying to resign David West. From what I heard from the press conference David is a big key to the Pacers puzzle. The vice president also talked about strengthening the bench, which was one of the areas he thought was needed.
