Cleveland, OH – With the Tigers not off to a good start, #35 at 4-4, the Indians running away with the division early, and the bullpen struggling, the Tigers need to get consistency from their starters. How much more consistent can you be? Throwing a one-hitter, the native of St. Louis, Max Scherzer, had the art of pitching working for him Monday night as he sat-down 22 Indian batters in a row. The Tigers offensively finally woke up. What can you say about the early season that Miguel Cabrera is putting together? The guy is a machine. Let’s face it, he hit 3 home runs in Texas. Even though it was a losing effort for the Tigers, the big man is a threat. #24 Cabrera has a chance to go for back-to-back Triple Crowns. Now if we can just get Justin to get consistent every night when he is on the mound, the Tigers are still a threat to win the whole thing, but the entire pitching cast has to step up. Max Scherzer has an undefeated season going. With the win, he has improved to an impressive 6-0. Now if we can just get Verlander to quit pussyfooting around when he is on the mound and rotate his pitching inside, outside, and around the plate. Keep the ball down. Any other team that sees the ball up will tattoo you, especially Cleveland. I’m not too happy with you right now, Verlander. 4-4 is totally inexcusable. You can pitch better than that, son! Your team has a chance to go for the sweep tonight. If I were you, I’d keep the ball down. That’s one of the reasons that you have been so awful. Will the real Verlander please step forward? I hope you were watching Mad Max last night, because he did everything perfect. That’s why he is undefeated and you are only at 4-4. That is unacceptable for a pitcher who won the Cy Young award. If I was Jim Leyland, I would send you to Toledo until the real Verlander comes out of hibernation.
