Indianapolis, Indiana. The bigggest week in motorsports started with Big Brown on the pole and looking to deliver. Ned Jarrett would be honored by NASCAR for his Hall of Fame induction. Jarrett was also named the Grand Marshall. But in the end, it was a cheesehead who had the racing gods on his side, getting lucky and holding off the hard-charging Jeff Gordon. It wasn’t Indiana’s day, as Tony Stewart finished sixth. Tony is a native of Columbus, Indiana. Ryan Newman did not have a good day, either, finishing 12th. Carl Edwards, who had the lead by 7 points over Jimmie Johnson going into the Brickyard, finished way back in the field. The Chase will be very interesting. NASCAR has implemented a wild card aspect to it which will benefit Paul Menard with today’s win at the Brickyard. The series moves on to the road course at Watkins Glen New York next week.
