San Jose, California. There is a song that goes, “do you know the way to San Jose?” But for the Red Wings, this has proven to be deadly, as they have been bitten three times and now they stare into the jaws of the hungry Sharks yet again. In game four in Detroit, with the Sharks threatening to end the Red Wings’ life, Darren Helm put them on life support with the game winner. Game five in the ocean could be the end of a marvelous career for number 5, Niklas Lidstrom. In order to close the Sharks’ jaws, the Red Wings must have a brilliant game from Jimmy Howard. He cannot allow Joe Thornton and Darin Setogouchi to smell blood in the water. If they do, the Sharks will end Lidstrom’s career. Mike Babcock is my coach of the year regardless of what happens, because Detroit seems to be a perennial powerhouse every spring. The Red Wings are hoping that they brought the magic of Scotty Bowman with them and the magic of the octopi.
