West Lafayette, Indiana. After an opening loss at Cincinnati, the Boilers were able to save themselves from going into an 0-2 hole, and they then evened themselves up at one. Meanwhile, the boys from South Bend were going after win number two at Michigan. However, they ran into a determined group of Wolverines, and that lead them to their first setback of the season. Purdue lost to Notre Dame one year ago 24-17, but this year we have two teams at a crossroad. We have the Irish who were undefeated going into the big house and who came out of the big house with a lot of questions. Meanwhile, the Boilers handled Ball State in a rather convincing fashion. This is more than just a Notre Dame – Purdue game, this is a crossroad. Whoever comes out on the losing end is looking at the rest of the season being in shambles, because for Notre Dame this was a team that was unstoppable in 2012. The Boilers were a train wreck last year, and they need to get a winning attitude in my hometown. You cannot go 1-2 into the Big Ten. If you do, this website will blow the whistle on the new coach. I know it’s not fair Boiler fans, but this is supposed to be a new era, for the coaching staff and for this reporter. It would be nice to write something good about my hometown team. For Notre Dame to go 1-2 would be disaster! Especially coming off a year where they were undefeated until they ran into a Alabama. So, we will not only see who wins the Shillelagh Trophy, but we will see whose season will be in shambles after Saturday night. All I have to say is it better not be the boys from West Lafayette who lose!
