Forget about Indianapolis. That season is over. You may be a defending champion, but now people are hunting for you. Forget about Peyton Manning (more on him later). This night was all about 31 year old Eli Manning and how the Giants would begin their 2012/13 season. This night was all about an NFC East rivalry and revenge. It was the Giants who got the last laugh in Week 17, knocking out Tony Romo and the Cowboys on their way to being kings of the NFL. Manning does not have Manningham anymore. After a lackluster first possesion in which the Giants were only able to come up with 3 points, that right there should have warned the Giants that the Cowboys were not going to be pushovers like they had been in week 17 in the 2011/12 season. There were spectacular plays from the Dallas Cowboys. One of the key turning points in the game on Wednesday night was when Romo got his rhythm and the Giants defense was unable to contain him. Eli did not look like a Super Bowl MVP at any point during Wednesday’s game. Manning looked out of sorts. You would expect that from his older brother, who hasn’t played a game since he had 4 neck surgeries, not from Eli. I know it’s just one game, but it doesn’t set a good tone, especially when you are the defending champions. For goodness sake! You were at home Eli, and you are allegedly a Super Bowl MVP. You would expect mishaps coming from your brother. You are the Super Bowl Champion, son! Your parents were there. You are supposed to be the first family of football! How dare you come out of sync. How dare you come to the stadium unprepared. If this were Peyton, he wouldn’t let you get away with it. He studies film and makes adjustments on the fly. Pictures should say a thousand words to you, but obviously not last night, little boy! As for Dallas, this sends a clear message to the rest of the NFC East that we are here to play. We will take names. We don’t care if you are the defending NFL champions. Tony Romo looked outstanding last night, going on the road and taking it to the Giants.
