Even though the Indiana Pacers have a 5-7 record, I am still very impressed with what I am seeing early in the season from Victor Oladipo. In my opinion, he could be the next Reggie Miller for the Pacers. Oladipo is currently averaging 22.8 points a game so far this season. However, he needs help so he doesn’t feel like he has to carry the Pacers on his shoulders in the way that Miller did.

The Pacers need to tighten the screws on their defense and not allow teams to score so easily. The Pacers are fortunate that it is early in the season so that they can correct their weaknesses and quit Mickey Mousing around, according to Hall Of Fame coach and announcer Slick Leonard. The Pacers have given up an average of 115 points per game during their current four game losing streak.

Head Coach Nate McMillan at times seems confused on what his team is doing and what combinations are working on the court. If the Pacers do not make the playoffs this season, I feel that changes have to be made. The head coach can only do so much and it is up to the players to execute the game plan. The other players around Oladipo must raise their game to make sure the Pacers make the playoffs this year.
