That was the second win in a row for Tony Stewart who had won in Chicago, prior to the off week. Meanwhile, more trouble for Jimmie Johnson. Johnson, who had failed to finish the Chicago race due to a cut tire which sent him into the Chicago wall. He was involved in another costly wreck. Johnson who was the defending Brickyard 400 Champion from a year ago, saw his dreams of winning a second Brickyard 400 title get ruined when he was involved in a eight car pile up and his number 48 car caught on fire. The Nextel Cup Point Leader Jeff Gordon finished the Brickyard in third place. Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick were racing wheel to wheel and were involved in contact that relocated the Bakersfield, CA native to 7th place. Juan Pablo Montoya finished second to Tony Stewart. Harvick was called to the red trailer when he bumped Stewart after the race. This win was really sweet for the Columbus, Indiana native who was smoking at the right time. The next race is in Pokono Pennsylvania and can be seen on ESPN at 1:00 ET which would be 2:00 CT. Jeff Gordon extended his already massive point lead to 371 over Denny Hamlin. The win gives other competitors the fear of seeing “Big Orange” lift his second Nextel Cup title over his head. 7 of the past 9 winners have gone on to be called the “King of NASCAR.” Stay tuned for more NASCAR news as we find out what NASCAR decides to do with Kevin Harvick and the 29 team after their contact with “Big Orange” at the “Yard of Brick.”
