Robin Pemberton, currently the vice president of competition for NASCAR, said punches were thrown and now the hammer must fall. Penalties were not handed out to Jeff Gordon or Kasey Kahne, who is a native of Enumclaw, Washington. Rather, Gordon’s crew chief Alan Gustafson and Kenny Francis, Kahne’s crew chief, were fined $50,000 and placed on probation through the completion of the next six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship points races. The two crew chiefs’ probation will be in place this weekend at Phoenix, the following weekend in Miami, and then continue for the next four races.
