This is it. The same team that lost 94 ball games a year ago, are now a major threat to take down the Kansas City Royals with Torii Hunter, who was with the Detroit Tigers a year ago. The Tigers have a new manager since last year, Brad Ausmus, but so too do the Minnesota Twins. That is no excuse for why the Tigers are struggling to defend their crown as American League Central kings. Who would have seen this reemergence coming out of the Twin Cities? Certainly not this reporter. The credit has to go to Jim Pohlad and David St. Peter. Certainly, credit must also go the new manager of the Twins, Paul Molitor. He has the Twins nine games over .500 and just took the Tigers three games to one before the All-Star Game recess. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Twins in a royal battle coming down to game 163 where it really counts, with the way Molitor has the team believing in itself. The media doesn’t feel that the Detroit Tigers will be a factor in the second half of the season, due to their terrible bullpen and not being able to rely on Justin Verlander every fifth day. This is not the same Justin Verlander anymore. If the Detroit media want to challenge JeremiahBoyce.com on this fact, be my guest.
