Indianapolis, Indiana. It was time to open Andrews’s sophomore season in the NFL, and we were able to get a feel of how things were going at the Luke by tuning in to the home of the Colts, 1070 WFNI Indianapolis. Joining the veteran voice of the blue and white, Bob Lamey, was former Colts quarterback, Jim Sorgi, who used to wear number 12. Sorgi came to the Colts to back up Peyton Manning. How ironic was this day that we would have a former player watching the sophomore quarterback play the former quarterback’s position. There was a point in the game where the veteran voice of the Colts was livid with the referees, but the blue and white were able to play through it and get the “W”. For a sophomore, Andrew played with a lot of moxie and poise. He didn’t let the referees get in his way. He knew what he wanted to do, and he looked like Peyton Manning. Andrew just looked like a veteran instead of a second year player, breaking off a 19-yard run, which gave the Colts the lead for good. Antoine Bethea went up to the buffet and helped himself to a snack on the Oakland Raiders, by getting a big play interception at the end of the game that helped the Colts seal the deal and put the horses with the same record as their counterparts in Denver. The play before the touchdown, I said “this is the maturation of a quarterback”, and it proved to be a game winner. Kind of reminds me of a certain quarterback who used to play at the Luke, and who now resides in the Mile high City. As far as grading, I would have to give the Colts defense a D-, because they were unable to contain the former Buckeye Terelle Prior in the pocket, which is something you have to learn how to do if the Colts are looking to go to New York City and possibly play Peyton. Reggie Wayne was outstanding. Andrew Luck had gone 11 for 11 before he had a little bit of trouble in the middle of the game. It looked like Oakland had taken the lead, but according to a very furious Bob Lamey, you almost never hear him like that, the player never came down with two feet on the ground. That could have been a back breaker, and it could have turned the ponies’ day into a disaster. Who knows if Oakland would have taken the lead if we would have seen the maturation of a quarterback? Andrew Luck had the biggest play of the game in my opinion. Usually horses that are backed into a corner are very skittish the next time, but Bob Lamey and Jim Sorgi saw Andrew mature before their very eyes. Who knows if the Colts will learn from their mistakes, but according to second-year head coach Chuck Pagano, he thinks they will. Up next for the Colts is the Miami Dolphins. This is your home for everything Colts and Broncos throughout the season.
