Detroit, MI. Well, the Tigers have a game and a half lead over the Tribe going in to the All Star break, which is inexcusable, because I thought if anyone was going to be able to bust the Central wide open, it would have been Jim Leyland’s Tigers. But the pesky Cleveland Indians refuse to go away. Every time the Tigers falter, it seems like the Indians are right there to capitalize. What to watch for in half number two. Can Miggy continue to be the catalyst for the Tigers offense every day? For those of us who write about the Tigers, Miguel is one of the story lines that you’ve got to keep your eye on. Plus, going in to hibernation during the off season, which hopefully won’t come until October, can Al Avila keep his son with the Tigers? And, will they re-sign Phil Coke? And, will they re-sign Darin Downs? And, also, can they keep this nucleus together? Leyland only signed a one-year deal to manage the Tigers, so there are a lot of questions surrounding the Tigers which I am trying to keep in touch with 1968 World Champion Jim Price and Dan Dickerson about. I have been in contact with both of them, and hopefully one of them will answer my questions. What do they need to do with the bullpen? I don’t have the answer. As soon as I get anything from Jim, you guys will be the first to know. My suspicion would be the Tigers will try and re-sign Alex, but then there are other questions that only Mr. Dombrowski can answer. If anyone can get answers, it’s me.
