After sinking the Sharks, the LA Kings now await the winner of round two from the Red Wings and Blackhawks game. All series long in the battle of California, the Sharks and Kings traded wins on each other’s home ice, and once again the series came down to a goal tending match up: Quick for LA and Niemi for the Sharks. The only thing that was for sure in the seventh game is that one California team is going home, and it happens to be Silicon Valley, because thier goalie let the Sharks down. Oh my, how times have changed! It was just a couple of years ago when Niemi was tasting the thrill of victory with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010, and now he is at the bottom of the ocean. This was a series filled with fun moments and great hockey, but somebody has to win and somebody also has to lose. Is the Silicon Valley ever going to put their teeth marks on the Stanley Cup? Or are they going to be a team that gets so close and can’t open their jaws when it really counts? If I was the Sharks, I would regroup and come out with the passion that it takes to win the Stanley Cup. They are one of the most puzzling teams in the NHL. They’ve got fire power, but when it really counts they seem to just sink to the bottom of the ocean.
