It was time for the Minnesota Twins to face the defending World Champion Houston Astros, who gave the Twins nothing but problems last night. Minnesota had opportunities to tie or take the lead, but the Astros pitching staff led by former Detroit Tiger Justin Verlander kept the Twins off balance all night, giving up four base hits in seven innings of work. Twins starter Lance Lynn pitched shutout ball for five innings, but had a pitch count of 105, striking out nine Astros but walking four in allowing only three hits. There was only a total of 13 hits by both teams in the game played in temperatures in the low 30’s.

Tonight, right handed pitcher Jake Odorizzi will make his Target Field debut as a Twin, as he hopes to leave the Astros smelling an “odor” of strikeouts in the second game of the three game series. The Twins record currently sits at 4-4, while the Astros are leading the AL West with a 9-2 record.
