Detroit, Michigan. After last night’s ugly 8-0 loss to Seattle with Justin Verlander on the mound, the Tigers needed a win to reclaim their dominance, and they got it. Justin better not pitch like garbage in the playoffs, or else they might as well think about trading him! Meanwhile, number 48 had a memorable day at the ball park today. Whenever the Tigers needed a big hit, it was the Torii Hunter show all day. The native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas continued to show Tiger fans what he is made of, and he also continued to come up with big hits one right after another. This is why the Tigers got him from the Angels. He has been a gift from heaven all year long. When you need a veteran present, Torii certainly is that. Doug Fister had 10 strikeouts and nine hits against him. It looked like the Tigers were in trouble due to Dustin Ackley from the Mariners hitting a three run home run off of Doug Fister. The Tigers were behind 4-3 going into the bottom of the 8th, but then Torii Hunter stepped up to the plate and did what a big-time hitter is supposed to do. Torii picked up his teammates and reduced the Tigers’ magic number to four games, which means all the Tigers need to do is get four more Tigers wins or four more Tribe losses, and then the Central Division will be theirs for the third straight year.
