In my opinion there is no place for fighting in the third period when a team is down; if you instigate a fight in the last five minutes of the third, you should be gone not only for the rest of the current game, but the next game as well. There is NO place for fighting in Jr. A Hockey, such as the league the Bismarck Bobcats are in. I know the kids like to rough it up a little bit, but it should be a game of grace and skill; not of your fists. You should want to show the other team your better than them by putting the puck in the net, not by using your fists or hockey stick to blatantly injure your opponent. Jr. A hockey should be played with finesse, skill and heart; not your fists. They (fights) are a show of poor sportsmanship and thus should not be allowed at all in the rink. If a referee sees a fight, they can try and stop it, but the odds that they themselves will be injured is quite high. In conclusion I am believe that the fighting and violence being currently practised in hockey is not only taking away from the game itself, but also the ability to promote players and help them get scholarships to colleges.
