Minneapolis, MN. While most hoosiers were stuck in their warm Indiana homes on a cold Indiana winter night, this hoosier reporter was blessed by his father when he was presented with a small red envelope underneath the Christmas tree. At first I didn’t realize what was about to take place when I opened the red envelope. Inside were three tickets to go see the Indiana Pacers against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center. However, this young hoosier would have to wait until the middle of February to get a glance at his home state idols. Waiting didn’t stop this writer from trying to get in contact with the voice of the Pacers, Mark Boyle. On February 19th, all this hoosier’s hard work paid off big time when he was able to score a slam dunk for this website by landing a huge interview, one of the biggest in its history. Mark Boyle was your typical heartland of America guy. He was down to earth, honest, and warmed up to me right away. The interview began with me asking him about an Indiana legend, no. 31, Reggie Miller. I asked the voice of the Pacers, “What was your favorite Reggie Miller moment?”, and Boyle stated, “When Reggie scored eight points against the Knicks as time was ticking away from the blue and gold.” I then went on to ask Mark if he had a favorite 2013 moment. Mark responded, “When we beat the Spurs in San Antonio.” He also stated he thought there would be more moments like that, and he thought the blue and gold could bring the city of Indy an NBA championship. That wasn’t all Boyle did for me on Wednesday night. After we met and talked, he tweeted a message that made me feel special and part of the Pacers’ family. The Pacers came up on the short end of the straw during the game, only managing 91 points. However, I would like to thank several people for making this coverage of the NBA possible. First, Marney Gellner from FSN Minnesota, and Aaron Seehusen from the Timberwolves who arranged for a one-on-one with former Boilermaker Robby Hummel and now current T-wolves player. Also, Laura Meyer with the Timberwolves for her help connecting me with Aaron. Finally, I would like to thank Mark Boyle of the Pacers’ flagship station 1070 WFNI in Indianapolis, for talking to me about the Pacers, and for putting my picture on Twitter so the rest of Pacer nation could see Mark’s new friend. This website is your continued home for everything blue and gold.
