Solo Denied North Korea

London, England – Going into play today, the United States women were already assured a birth into the knockout round which will take place on Friday at 8:30 am EST with their opponent to be determined. Meanwhile, the North Korean side needed a draw, which could also be considered a tie, to move onto the semifinals. The North Koreans were only interested in hurting the United States players and they were given three yellow cards and one red card (which is the disqualification of a player). The North Korean woman who was disqualified injured Lauren Cheney from Indianapolis. The only goal of the morning came from Abby Wambach from USA. The rest of the game was about the United States strong defensive effort and 31 year old Hope Solo. Stay tuned for more soccer coverage.

Johnson and Keselowski Star in Indy

Indianapolis, Indiana – Going into Indy I had thought that Jimmie would be a possible candidate to win the Brickyard 400. On Sunday, it was total domination by Johnson and his crew. This win tied him with his hero Rick Mears and his car owner Jeff Gordon for number of wins at the famous track. Also, it sent a warning to Tony Stewart and the rest of the field that you will have to deal with #48 in the chase for the Sprint Cup. I want to talk about the new points leader in the Sprint Cup series. Ladies and gentlemen, from HMS, your new Sprint Cup points leader. Please welcome, Dale Earnhardt Jr!

On Saturday at the famous Brickyard, Brad Keselowski earned Roger Penske’s first win in a stock car at Indy but not without controversy. The Nationwide Series points leader Elliot Sadler was black flagged for jumping a restart which created the controversy. In my opinion, Elliot knows the rules and if you are shown the black flag you must heed it, which he did not do. It will be interesting to see if there is fallout from Indy over this. From the Brickyard, both series move on. The Sprint Cup series moves on to Pocono and Nationwide goes to Iowa.

Manning Mania

Englewood, Colorado – He’s back! Move over, Eli. The four time NFL MVP is back on the field. Certainly you don’t win Super Bowls in the preseason, it is all about sharpening your skills. Peyton Manning, who was out all last season, will be galloping with a new younger group of horses, but this stallion can lead Denver to the promised land. Peyton Manning was interviewed by ESPN and looked relaxed and ready to lead Denver to the Super Bowl. The guy’s personality speaks for itself. He led the Colts to the Super Bowl in 2006. Even though he is with a new team, expect the same old Peyton Manning.

Busy Weekend at the Brickyard

Indianapolis, Indiana – Among the stories that we will be following is how the Nationwide Series will be received at the Brickyard. After a number of years of being ran at Indianapolis Raceway Park the Nationwide Series moves across town to 16th and Georgetown. Ricky Stenhouse Jr will replace Matt Kenseth in the number 17 Jack Roush Ford beginning in 2013. “Why is that significant?” you ask. This is significant because if Stenhouse Jr does well in the Nationwide Series on Saturday, July 28th it will be a telltale sign of what Mr Roush sees in Ricky and what fans can expect in the Cup Series from him. Then there is the Danica factor. Patrick who is a veteran of racing in Speedway, Indiana can be expected to maybe get her first win in NASCAR. As far as Sunday goes, jeremiahboyce.com is expecting it to come down to any one of six different drivers to kiss my bricks. Those six drivers are Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Brad Keselowski, and Paul Menard. You can watch all the excitement on ESPN or you can check all the action on Sirius/XM channel 90.

London, England – Every four years something magical in sports happens where it’s not about the money and it is about three letters, U – S – A. It is about an entire nation with one goal in mind, bringing home the medal that is made of gold and hearing America’s song play on the podium. Among the categories that I will be keeping my evil eyes on includes swimming, soccer, track, basketball, and boxing. Stay tuned as the USA tries to bring home the gold medal on the site that is made of champions.
