Behind the Bench with Bobcats Head Coach Layne Sedevie

Bismarck, ND – On Wednesday night jeremiahboyce.com had a chance to chat about some of the things that went down in front of our very eyes in Game 2 on Saturday night at the VFW Sports Center, which Aberdeen took 5-3. Therefore, the series is now squared at one a piece heading back to Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen, SD. The first subject that we approached the Bobcats head coach with was his inexcusable meltdown with the referee. Sedevie stated about the meltdown, “I put our team in some very tough penalty kills.” Sedevie also vociferously stated, “I did not agree with some of the calls he made.” From that topic, we moved on to how he was going to stop Bobcat killers, Steven Obarzanek and Cory Ward. He stated of Ward and Obarzanek, ” We have to take time and space away from them and not allow them to make plays. We have to stay out of the box, block shots, and have active sticks on the puck.” Coach Sedevie stated of the 1-1 tie, “We know we have to go into their building and get a win to take home ice back.” The Bobcats have been working on execusion. They want to make more traffic for Marcus Zelzer, stay sharp, and shoot the vulcanized rubber more. Sedevie stated of his pregame speech to the Capital City Kitties, “We have to find a way to get the job done! There are no excuses and it’s a must win for the ‘Cats!” The Bobcats will have focus and grab a little shut-eye before they shoot down the Wings. Sometimes you ride the horse that got you to the playoffs and goalie Aaron Nelson will get the nod to play between the pipes for the ‘Cats on Friday.

Razorback Controversy

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)

Fayetteville, Arkansas. Another disturbing story in college football. This time involving the Arkansas Razorbacks head football coach, Bobby Patrino. How many times in sports have we seen coaches who think they are above the law? Patrino clearly doesn’t give a darn about his program. After taking the Hogs to an eleven win season, he decides to go on a joy ride with a 25 year old woman. This decision resulted in Patrino’s immediate termination from the university. His actions with this woman, ignoring the contract he signed with the University of Arkansas, and most importantly the disregard for his wife and families well being, get me fired up and extremely disappointed. To make matters even more appalling, why would you lie to your athletic director and to the police. Just because he is a coach of a major college football program doesn’t make him any less accountable for his actions. Patrino is full of bull$#*@ in my opinion. He has left he program in the position of having to replace a winning coach with somebody who can gain the trust and respect of the players and keep them a winning team. A daunting task to say the least. I am curious to see how this will affect the SEC as a whole this year and I will be watching to see if the Razorbacks will be able to maintain their place, close to the top.

Ward, Oberzanek Combine to Leave Sauer Taste in Bobcats’ Mouth

Bismarck, North Dakota. After a thrilling 7-2 win on Friday, it was anything but thrilling on Saturday, as the Wings soared over the Bobcats 5-3, pulling Roth and the Wings even at one. Those of you who read my previous post know what I thought the keys to the series were for a Bobcat win. And on Saturday, the Bobcats looked lifeless and disinterested in stopping the high flying Wings offense. Tommy Burke did not have his head screwed on right at all. It was evident when he and his nonexistent defense let Cory Ward walk right in and bury it five-hole. That wasn’t the only time Burke looked like a sieve on Saturday night. What’s worse, Steven Oberzanek was acting like a buffoon on the ice after he scored, celebrating in front of the Bobcats bench. And to make matters even more inexcusable, Layne Sedevie, whom I have supported many times on this website, and who was named Coach of the Year by this website, couldn’t keep his mouth shut when moments got heated. Layne, you claim to be a head coach of the Central Division champions. On Saturday night, you and your team looked like chumpions. This leaves a Pete Sauer taste in the Bobcats’ mouth as the team heads back to Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen. This was a team who allegedly had a shot at the Robertson Cup. Now, they must grow up and face the music.

No Valentine’s Day in Boston

Detroit, Michigan. The Detroit Tigers sent a clear message when they got Cecil Fielder’s son Prince Fielder to wear the old English D. We are here to take names and unless you want to be mauled by a Tiger, you better play your A game, which the Boston Red Sox did not do over the weekend. Therefore, it was no tea party in Tigertown for Bobby Valentine’s Red Sox. Instead, the Detroit Tigers mauled the Red Sox three straight times. In doing so, they sent a loud roaring message to the rest of baseball. If you want to go to the World Series in the American League, you have to go through Detroit. It was a really really super weekend, that had everything going right for the Motor City kitties, including great pitching, timely hitting, and an explosive offense including five home runs on Saturday in a 10-0 drubbing of Boston. Sunday’s game was filled with drama until number 13 Alex Avila won the game with a tremendous three-run shot into the Detroit evening in the bottom of the 11th, giving the Tigers an unforgettable 13-12 win and a 3-0 start. The Tigers now look to reel in the Rays, starting on Tuesday in a three game showdown.

Former Bobcat Returns Behind Aberdeen Bench

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Saturday, April 7th, 2012

Bismarck, North Dakota. After a 7-2 win for the Bobcats on Friday night, JeremiahBoyce.com had a chance to chat with former Bobcat and now assistant coach for the Aberdeen Wings, Garrett Roth. We asked Coach Roth what his favorite Bobcat memory was and he stated, “winning the Borne Cup in 2003 and seeing the fans climb on the glass.” JeremiahBoyce.com asked Garrett how he liked coaching the Aberdeen Wings and he said, “the fans are really behind the team.” We asked him if he had a favorite player with the Wings and he stated, “Each player has a special place in my heart, I don’t really have a favorite player.” Garrett Roth is still the all-time leading scorer in Bobcat history. The Wings are currently tied with the Bobcats 1-1, with game 3 on Friday at Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen.
