Sunday January 23, 2011 Onalaska, Wisconsin

Sunday night at OmniCenter, the Bismarck Bobcats would complete a 2 win 1 loss weekend, with super play from #31 Ryan Faragher. Faragher helped the Bobcats end a 5 game losing streak on Saturday night in Austin, Minnesota with a 3-1 win over the Bruins. He would get plenty of help from his offense and he would keep the Chill off the scoreboard. The offense would strike early and often. The first Bobcat goal came off the hockey stick in the second period by Samuel Dougherty. The Bobcats were off and running. Coulee Region had no answer for Ryan Faragher, who would close the door for the entire 60 minutes. The Bobcats earned a big four out of six points on the weekend, and now find themselves with a record of 22-11-3 for a total of 47 points for the year. Now they are in second place. The Bobcats will return home to play Alexandria on Friday January 28, 2011 at 7:15pm.

Saturday Janauary 22, 2011 Austin, Minnesota

After giving away a win on Friday, the Bismarck Bobcats showed a lot of perseverance to earn a 2-1 win. The win was especially big, because the Cats had a lot of injuries in the game. Entering tonight’s game, the Bobcats hadn’t tasted a win in five straight games. The Bobcats needed an unlikely hero to get the job done. His name is Grant Mindt. Early in the game the Bobcats would trail 1-0, but not for long. They would tie the game at 1 on a goal by Bismarcks Brett Bower. He would power it into the net. Early in the third period, Grant Mindt would give his team a minty flavor of victory. Final score, Bismarck to Austin was 3-1 with the win. The Bobcats would snap a five game losing streak earning the 21st win of the year and giving them a total of 45 points for the year. The Bobcats continue their three game road trip on Sunday January 23rd when they travel to Coulee Region for a 6:00pm face off.

Friday January 21, 2011 Austin, Minnesota

Early in tonight’s game the results looked like they were going to be promising on the early goal by the Bobcats, which made the score 1-0, good guys. However, the Bruins had something brewing as they tied the game 1-1. The Bobcats would regain a 2-1 lead when Charles moseyed in a goal, but the Bruins would tie the game at 2. Following the tying goal the Bruins would have all the momentum as they would score the final three goals giving the Bobcats a five game losing streak. The Bobcats now have a record of 20 wins 11 losses and 3 ties for a total of 43 points. The Bobcats play Austin on Saturday before moving on to Coulee Region where they look to put the chill on the chill. The face off between the Bobcats and the Bruins is scheduled for January 22, 2011 at 7:05pm.

NFC All Set

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Sunday, January 16th, 2011

With last night’s result in the Georgia Dome, which saw the Packers pour it on the Falcons, it all came down to the Bears and the upstart Seattle Seahawks. Seattle’s slipper got them past New Orleans, but was broken 35-24 at Soldier Field on Sunday. With the win, the Bears and Packers, two NFC North combatant,s will battle for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, on the AFC side, the Men of Steel already punched their ticket to the AFC championship, and now await the winner of the battle between the Brady Bunch and the New York J-E-T-S and their fiery coach Rex Ryan. Ryan, who likes to use his mouth before his quarterback even throws a pass, guaranteed the Jets are going to the Super Bowl. It will be an interesting matchup between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.

Blizzard Get Lucky

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Sunday, January 16th, 2011

Bismarck, ND. On Saturday night at the VFW Sports Center, the game between the Alexandria Blizzard and Bismarck Bobcats ended in tragedy for the Bobcats when Alexandria forward Steve Zierke apparently missed a goal during the shootout, which would have given the Bobcats another chance to win the game had it not been for Jordan Solomon’s call. Which left the defending NAHL champs fuming and wondering what might have been. Solomon at first made the right call when Tommy Burke poked the puck away from the dangerous Alexandria forward, but instead of going with the right call, which was “no goal” Solomon let Zierke talk him into reversing the call which led to first year head coach Sedevie screaming at Solomon. Instead of listening to Sedevie complain, Solomon skated away from him and went over by former Bobcat Jeff Crouse and wouldn’t hear anything that the former Bull had to say. I look for fines and punishment to be leveled on Sedevie and the radio voice of the Bobcats Paul Teeple. I wanted to unplug Teeple’s microphone last night because this is not the only time he has been boisterous about the zebras.
