NFL’s Future Is in Limbo

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

New Orleans, Louisiana. You may not hear any “hut-hut” in the Louisiana Superdome or at Lucas Oil Stadium, or anywhere else for that matter in 2011. I think commissioner Roger Goddell should be ashamed of what the players and owners are doing. The players and owners are making a mockery out of the game that was once revered, because you have a classic example of what sports in America has become. Sports in America has become about greed and not so much about passion and loyalty. The NFL is a prime example of what’s right for now and what will be wrong, if the players and owners cannot come to terms on the current collective bargaining agreement. The NFL would put a black eye on itself if no agreement is reached. You have players that are only signing for one year. To me, that is a joke. I know your futures are uncertain, but why don’t you sit down across from the owners and hammer out a deal?

Minnesota Twins Are Starting to Show Mauer Power

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Minneapolis, Minnesota. Yesterday, the Twins were not on Target, and the Anaheim Angels put a halo on Mauer and the Twins, ripping the Twins 9-3. Meanwhile, in Kansas City, the White Sox and the Royals met up with the White Sox trying to crown the Royals. The Twins are pulling away, looking in the rear view mirror at the Sox. The Twins have 70 wins, and 53 losses. A big reason why the Twins have 70 wins is because of St. Paul native Joe Mauer. Mauer, who is as hot as the mercury outside, continues to put a scalding on the baseball and power the Twins past everybody in the Central. This has all the makings of October baseball. Mauer is no number 34, but he resembles Kirby Puckett in the way he is becoming a leader not only behind the dish but with Minnesota’s young pitching staff.

Johnson Questionable for Chase

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Bristol, TN. The once proud four-time champion is facing the very real possibility that there will be no 40-chase this year. Jimmie Johnson, who was in fifth headed into Bristol, will have more than Georgia on his mind when the series shifts to Hampton, Georgia in two weeks time. The 42 had other ideas Saturday night. Everything appeared to be like the 48 was on rails until Jimmie Johnson met up with Bogota Colombia’s Juan Pablo Montoya, who has no regard for who he is racing. With Montoya, it’s either you race me clean or I’ll put you into the wall where you won’t be able to recover. Johnson has to come up with a boxing mentality. You may have the four-time champ down, but you can’t stop his drive for five.

Big Breesey

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Sunday, August 8th, 2010

One year after laying claim to the city of New Orleans’ first Super Bowl, the boys of fall are back with Drew Breese on top of the mountain. It’s just about time to find out who dat gonna challenge them Saints. Will it be the Louisiana kid, Peyton Manning taking another shot at the Big Breesey or will it be an upstart team? There is plenty of news and notes to get to, so here we go. The Brett Favre saga continues to be an irritant like a bee that’s buzzing in your ear and trying to sting you. Make up your mind, you Mississippi pretty boy! You had your moment in the sun and now the sun is setting on your career and you can’t take the pain of no more Super Bowl titles for you. You went down to the Big Easy and you blew it. You were smacked by Hurricane Breesey, so get over it. Some quarterbacks need a bottle because they aren’t satisfied with only one Super Bowl ring. Waaa!
