Tribe Scalps Tigers

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Jake Westbrook was on the mound for the Cleveland Indians and on the mound for the Tigers was Matt Scherzer. But it was the Tribe who hopped all over the Tigers. The Tigers got battered, pitching last night, as the Indians used good pitching and hitting. Meanwhile, the White Sox, who had a game and a half lead, fell to the Minnesota Twins 7- 2. However, the Tigers were unable to capitalize on the White Sox’ misfortune. The Tigers take on the Indians in a day/night double-header Saturday July 17th. The Twins take on the White Sox this evening.

Tigers Continue Pursuit of Central Crown

Cleveland, Ohio–With the White Sox burning up the Central Division the Tigers are right on their tail. Tonight Detroit faces Sykeston, ND native, Travis Hafner and the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. On the mound for the Tigers will be Max Scherzer. This is a match-up of two teams heading in opposite directions. The Indians sit in last place in the AL Central while the Tigers in second place, are trying to chase down Ozzie Guillen and the White Sox. They didn’t get any help from Joe Mauer or his teammates last night at Target Field as the Twins were not on target, losing to the White Sox 8 to 7. This leaves the Tigers little choice but to take a bite out of Ozzie Guillen and the White Sox on their own. The Central Division race will come down to pitching and hitting. Your Tigers’ MVP is definitely Miguel Cabrera. When the game is on the line he shows Tiger fans what he is made of coming up with hits in the clutch. The game starts tonight at 7:05 p.m.

Yankees Lose All-Star

On the day of major league baseball’s mid-summer classic in Anaheim, CA, jeremiahboyce.com brings you sad news. After turning 80 on July 4th, George Steinbrenner went to Yankee heaven. He is not the only Yankee to pass on in the last seven days. Steinbrenner joins Bob Shephard, the venerable voice of Yankee Stadium. Rest in peace, George. We will remember you as a C-H-A-M-P! Baseball will miss you, and I will also miss you. You displayed so much fire and passion toward your Yankee team “family”. You made Yankee Stadium “your house”–the house that George built.

Hear Them Growl in 2010/11

Frisco, Texas. The NAHL released the 2010/11 schedule. The defending Robertson Cup Champions, Bismarck Bobcats, will open the defense of their title at the Blaine Showcase September 15th against the Fresno Monsters. They will open divisional play against Alexandria on September 24th and will also be raising the National Championship banner at the Den. It is always difficult when you are the “hunted” with a target on your back. But if last year is any indication, Layne and Aaron will find the perfect pieces of the puzzle and fit them together into another championship team. The Bobcats are not only the national champs but they enter the season as two-time Central Division champs. So how will the first-year head coach respond to having two targets on his back? Will he rise to the challenge or will the team that we all love crumble before our very eyes? The Sheriff thinks the rest of the league will be handcuffed by a Bobcat attack. The Robertson cup is going nowhere! That baby is ours for another year. Back-to-back Robertson Cup Champions! Mark my words.

Stay turned to this web site as we bring you exclusive interviews with Bismarck native and first-year head coach, Layne Sedevie, owner Thom Brigl along with many others. Your internet home for Bobcat Hockey during the 2010/11 season is right here with The Sheriff.

Bird Has Laid an Egg

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)

Indianapolis. The Pacers used to be a once-proud franchise. That is until a 6’7″ guard out of UCLA rode off into the sunset of retirement. What have you done lately for us, Mr Bird? All you’ve done is put a black eye on your home state because the Indiana Pacers used to be one of the most feared in the NBA and now they play basketball like they don’t even care. The last time I checked, basketball was supposed to be “our” game. If I see anything with a “P” on it, it makes me very disappointed because Pacers used to be my team and now they they play like the NBA “D” league. Larry Bird, maybe it’s the president’s attitude. Don’t you care about your home state and bringing those of us Pacer fans a Larry O’Brien Trophy? Or is the team we once knew going to languish at the bottom of the NBA forever. It’s all up to you, Bird. Are you going to lay an egg and make Pacer fans jeer you? Or are you going to be like Reggie and hit a “boom-baby” and get us some players who want to play Pacer basketball? Bring back the day when “Slick” Leonard used to say, “Boom Baby! Boom, Boom, Boom!”
