Bobcats prepare for Avalanche

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Monday, September 21st, 2009

Bismarck, ND: After a showcase in Blain MN, that almost saw the Bobcats beat the Texas Tornadoes, and give St Luis a run for their money, there is still plenty of hope in the Bobcat Nation. A showcase doesn’t make a season, with the rest of the Central Division struggling, the Bobcats still have hopes of defending last years title. There were several bright spots to the showcase. Ryan Jacobsen scored the Bobcats only goal on Saturday, also, other veterans that stick out are Devin Schmitt and Casey Kleisinger. It will be an interesting set with the Alaska Avalanche. The Avalanche have a chance to go 6-1. In other notes, the Avalanche are coached by former North Iowa Bench Boss, Dave Boitz. The fun starts Friday and Saturday at 7:15 pm. After the Avalanche set the Bobcats go back on the road to meet the Avalanche again in the great white north.

Johnson’s Time is Here

The regular season is behind us, now it’s time to watch Jimmie try to tie his boss. If he succeeds that would tie him with his team mate and car owner, Jeff Gordon, for number of titles. Over the past three years the rest of Nascar has been Johnson Dreamin. As the native of Alcahone has made the Chase all about Jimmie, the rest of Nascar hasn’t even got a chance to chase for the championship, because Jimmie and the rest of the Lowe’s team have outworked the rest of the field. Will this be another year like the past three years? I say NO! Jimmie, if you haven’t been watching, don’t forget about your 50 year old team mate, Mark Martin, the Native of Batesville AK. Mark is the current points leader. Jimmie is seated number three currently. This year’s chase will be fun, because their are a number of story lines I will be following.

What to watch for:
See if His Majesty, Mr. Johnson, can get a fourth title or will somebody knock him off the throne of Nascar. Can a fifty year old win his first title? Can Tony Stewart, a car owner and driver win a title? Brian Vickers made the Chase on Saturday night, as did Juan Montoya, whom this reporter has a deep disdain for, to put it mildly.

Steelers begin defense of title

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, thursday night begins a new season, this time as champions. Ben Roethlisberger is facing his toughest challenge yet. Defending a trophy that Santonio Holmes helped him get. On Thursday night will Pittsburgh begin with a win or will the NFL be remembering the Titans as the team that beat the defending champs? Week number 1 doesn’t make a season it’s the whole body of work and how consistent you are through all 16 weeks, and how healthy you stay. These Pittsburgh Steelers could be remembered the same as the ’72 Dolphins.

Marauders continue to have trouble with Eagles

Bismarck:  U-Mary made their first ever appearance at Don Beebe stadium on Saturday.  Too many costly mistakes hurt the Marauders on the way to their third loss against the Eagles.  This loss has made this reporter wonder if it’s a mental thing or if Chadron just has the Marauders number.  They were tied at 7-7 at half time, but then the Eagles exploded and salted the game away with time consuming drives.  Brandon Harrington helped down the Marauders.  He did a lot of damage, including a second half kickoff witch helped the Eagles
soar past the Marauders.  It was the Brandon Harrington show.   The
Marauders return home to face the Peacocks on Saturday the 5th with kickoff at 2:30 pm.  Check back for the latest Marauders updates.
