Bobcats Team of Destiny

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Bismarck – After whipping Alexandria 6-2 on Saturday, the unstoppable Bobcats had to face a little adversity with their 5-4 win on Sunday.

These Bobcats had shown the heart of champions, when John Wickman put the Alexandria Blizzard in their place.  Alex’ found themselves on the losing end again.  Coach Byron pool is coaching like a champion and the boys are believing in his philosophy.  This team has all the makings of the former Texas Tornado (the Tornado came to Bismarck in
’05 and I was thoroughly impressed).  I am confident that yours truly will have a date with Lord Robertson, just like in ’02-’03 when I was holding Lord Borneley.  The only difference between the ’04 and the ’08 Bobcats is that in 2004 they fell just short of the NAHL’s ultimate prize.   With this team I can feel it.  Mark my words, we
will come home with Lord Robertson.  I will spend a day with hockey’s ultimate prize.  The reason why I’m so confident is because this year’s addition of the Bobcats has great coaching.  Assistant Coach Aaron Kinslow ,who came from the FM Jets, knows what it takes to put together a run to the Nationals.  It was Kinslow who received the silver medal in ’05 with coach Todd Knot.

Inside the Bobcat Nation Podcast Interview

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Monday, February 23rd, 2009

In this addition of the new series called “Inside Bobcat Nation,” we give you a look and a listen to one of the all-time greatest Bobcat broadcasters, my friend and a champion in his own way, please welcome, Stephen “Skip” Berry.  Berry came to us after the familiar voice of Nick Hulberg skated off into the sunset when he took a job in the NHL minor league affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Berry got his start in broadcasting after walking up as an intern at AM860 The Fan, out of Portland, OR, where he assisted in any way he could, including producing other programming.  I also asked Skip who his broadcasting hero was, and he said it was the voice of the Calgary Flames, Peter Maher.  Check out my exclusive one-on-one chat with the best voice in the NAHL, Skip Berry, right here on JeremiahBoyce.com

The top audio player below has the interview with Jeremiah and Skip Berry.  The bottom player has come of the action from January 24th as called by Skip.

Interview with Brad Treml

By Jeremiah Boyce · Comments (0)
Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Brad TremlJeremiahBoyce.com went to the VFW SportsCenter to check how a team that is in first place prepares to melt the Blizzard.  We heard one common theme Tuesday morning from the head coach, Byron pool, “communication.”  We also had a chance to sit down with #8 Brad Treml, a 6′ 2″, 220 pound defense-man from Greenbay, WI.  Treml comes to the ‘Cats from the NAHL’s Fairbanks Ice Dogs.  Treml thinks that the Bobcats have had intense practices lately, but “they’ve shortened practices a little bit and tried to get a little more fun involved.”

As far as this week’s opponent, the Alexandria Blizzard, the one thing that frightens Treml is their speed. “They attack really well in the D-zone,” Treml said.  Due to the fact that he is a newly acquired member of the team, Treml is trying to find a niche with the Bobcats.  “I’m trying to build a bond to fit in with the team and work really hard,” Treml said.  Along with the coaching staff, Treml likes the taste of success and being on a winning team.  “It’s always fun to be a winner.”
