Bismarck, ND. Yesterday it was time to see who would play in the North Dakota version of the super bowl in class AAA. On one side you had the story of a city filled with tragedy and on the other side you had the red, white, and blue. The Century Patriots have not been to the state championship since 1977. The Minot Magicians had plenty of opportunities to make it a storybook season. Instead it will be an all to familiar match-up. The civil war…Bismarck High versus Century. The BHS Demons performed a devilish act against the Mandan Braves. This was not what this reporter wanted to see. Here we go again! Big brother versus little brother, David and Goliath. It was a back and forth battle for both games. The Magicians almost pulled off a magic act which would have led them to the state championship. It was a close call as Century defeated Minot 14 to 13. Following this game was the Missouri River battle as BHS took on MHS. In the last chapter of the Missouri River battle BHS nailed a field goal with only four seconds left on the clock to pull off the 32-30 win. There will be more to come on the civil war in the week leading up to the Championship game. You will hear from the head coaches of both schools as the civil war gets ready to take aim at the Fargo dome. Ronald Wingenbach of the Century Patriots and Mark Gibson of the Bismarck Demons will face off on Friday night.
