Atlanta, Georgia. With Tony Stewart on the pole, and the Chase two races away, there is one thing missing, and that is a number 24 team. At one time Jeff Gordon was one of NASCAR’s most revered drivers, but he and his team have fallen on hard times, along with the number 99 team, piloted by Carl Edwards. These drivers are going to be out for blood in the Advocare 500. Do not expect any love lost between Hendrick teammates Gordon and Johnson. It was here a year ago that four-time and five-time were leaning on each other for the win, in which Gordon got the better of five-time. So, how ironic that so many of Gordon’s championship moments have come at the Hampton, Georgia track. With the 48 and the 88 already in position to challenge Tony for the title, NASCAR has done a good thing by creating the wild card. I’m not sure that this is where Jeff envisioned himself being coming down to the last two races before the Chase. But for you Gordon fans, I’m afraid that this is Jeff Gordon’s swan song for 2012. If he doesn’t do anything with Georgia on his mind, there is no hope for him at Richmond. Edwards was runner-up to Stewart last year, but has been shut out of victory lane this year..
