Bismarck, ND. Although the regular season didn’t end on the right end of the scoreboard, for those of us who work for the organization we love and value, seeing the Austin Bruins come in to our building and hand it to us on both ends of the spectrum wasn’t what we wanted. But you have to give credit where credit is due. Chris and the Bruins were playing hockey the way champions are supposed to play going in to the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Bobcats can only get better through practice and determination, which I know Layne and Garrett have. And I would like to give them my supreme vote of confidence going in to the playoffs. What is a five-time championship staff writer supposed to say? I sent my dad a text while I was watching the Bruins dominate the Cats last night, and it read, “I know that this team is playing like champions, they are just not showing it right now.” On Wednesday, when I go for my weekly visit with the coaches, I’m going to give both coaches a hug. I know that members of the media are not supposed to show too much emotion, but when you get attached to a team like I have become, it’s definitely hard not to show too much emotion, because the boys are a family to me. As far as Nate Repensky goes, my heart really goes out to that kid, because no one wants to see a possibility of a broken ankle end a chance of a shot at a sixth title for him. But Nellie and the guys we have who can still play have the hearts of champions. So they’re going to go after Travis Winters and the Wings and they won’t give a darn about the fact that it’s in Aberdeen.
