Pre-Op Update On Champ
June 29, 2009 by jeremiahboyce · Leave a Comment
All of you guys may not know this, but please do not worry. The Champ is not worried. Tomorrow will be a day of surgery and getting well. I may try to sit up, but I don’t know. My surgeon, Dr. Van Norman, expects to keep the Champ overnight and see how I am on Wednesday. When I come back from the hospital I will have a strap on me to prevent swelling. No big deal. I’m really excited to go on the operating table, because I know that God is protecting me and guiding the doctor while he performs the minor operation. No pain, no gain. I hope to bring you a further update on Thursday when I hope to be released from the hospital.
Sheriff Sound Off: Minnesota Wild
June 16, 2009 by jeremiahboyce · Leave a Comment
St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Wild have a new bench boss to replace the legendary Jacques Lemaire. Lemaire, who called it quits after the last game of the season, is replaced by former San Jose Sharks assistant Todd Richards. Maybe the “State of Hockey will live up to its name and bring something that the Penguins and the Red Wings have experience in… championships. Ever since the Wild has been in existence, they have been floundering around and only able to win NorthWest Division Titles. Unlike their competitors, the Wild have been lacking the heart and will to win. Maybe this year we could actually see a Stanley Cup in St. Paul. The Wild also fired Doug Riseborough, who had been their General Manager since their inception. That move had this reporter scratching his head. The last time I checked, you don’t see a GM with a uniform on. The GM’s job is to tell coaches and the people who work under them to get their butts in gear. It’s the Head Coach’s job to inspire the players who wear the Wild logo. Don’t tell me it was Riseborough’s fault. He doesn’t play the game. He just brings in the players who he thinks will go out and get the Wild to the promised land. Maybe, it was because this group of Wild wasn’t man enough to win.
Remembering David Poole

Richmond, VA - After the passing of David Poole of the Charlotte Observer, NASCAR gets back to the medicine it needs, which is racing. It starts with the Lipton Ice Tea 250 tonight, and then the Crown Royal 400 tomorrow night.
Poole, who has been the beat writer for the Observer, died at the age of 50 after a heart attack. David Poole had answered yours truly’s email. It’s always tough when you lose someone, especially when it’s someone in your own profession. Poole was someone who I was going to interview. He was one of my colleagues. I listened to him and got all of my NASCAR news from him and Mike Bagley. I am deeply saddened by David’s passing, and I will miss him. I looked forward to the Morning Drive with him and Mike. I was going to bring my readers closer to people like Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Jimmie Johnson. I was going to see if the Morning Drive could help me out. This loss really saddens me, because I’ll never forget hearing my name on XM.
He answered my question about Jimmie Johnson. My condolences go out to his family, The Charlotte Observer, Mike Bagley, and Claire B. Lang.
Carnage at ‘Dega
April 27, 2009 by jeremiahboyce · Leave a Comment
On Sunday afternoon, drivers were not being smart and as a result there were eight fans, enjoying their Sunday at the racetrack, in hospitals throughout Alabama. This isn’t the only time NASCAR has had major carnage. In the end, it was Brad Keselowski smiling in victory lane. NASCAR has got to clean up its image at Talladega, or protect its fans by putting some kind of reinforcement along the outside fence (where Carl Edwards went airborne.) Yes, I know it’s ‘Dega, but still, this is not a demolition derby. The last time I checked, it was NASCAR. Drivers and their crews had torn up race cars because some drivers raced for the win too early. I respect the drivers, but if they would just back-off their level of intensity a little bit, situations like this could be avoided.
Now, let’s talk about Mr. H’s drivers. It was nice to hear that the #88 finally got his head in the game and came up with a 2nd place finish. Maybe they should call it Junior-Dega. As for Jeff and Jimmie, I guess that’s people being boneheaded at ‘Dega.
Here are the point leaders after the wreck-filled Talladega:
1. Kurt Busch 1299
2. Jeff Gordon 1294
3. Jimmie Johnson 1235
4. Tony Stewart 1232
5. Denny Hamlin 1190
6. Kyle Busch 1124
7. Carl Edwards 1119
8. Clint Bowyer 1098
9. Jeff Burton 1092
10. Greg Biffle 1081
Edwards Thankful to be Alive
The driver known for doing backflips after he wins, was lucky to make it out of his #99 Office Depot Ford alive, on Sunday afternoon. “Hopefully they can do something somehow to change this style of racing,” Edwards said. “I guess we’ll do this until somebody gets killed and then we’ll change it, but that’s the way it is.” Our thoughts and prayers go out to the NASCAR fans who were injured in Sunday’s wreck. We hope for a speedy recovery for those involved.
Sheriff’s View Point on Bobcats
April 9, 2009 by jeremiahboyce · Leave a Comment
The Bismarck Bobcats have plenty to be proud of! With a 43 win season, and making it to the playoffs, the coaching staff is to be commended for their hard work in getting the team win total turn around from a measly twenty wins! Even the best teams in the League have bad nights, such as what happened to the Capital City Kitties on Saturday, but they are central division Champs for a reason and thats going into game three of the play offs! There is no reason not to believe that these Bismarck Bobcats can’t take a two-one lead in the series. The Alexandria goaly was just the hotter goaly of the night on Saturday, and the Bobcat’s Nation has no reason to fear Alexandria.
