Phil Jackson Greatest Coach in NBA History

The NBA Finals are over and yet again we see a different cast on top, but the same coach. The Ten Master, Phil Jackson, a native of Williston, ND, got his degree from UND. He might as well have a degree in championships, because all he does is win. Whether it’s Michael and Scotty, or Pal Gasol and Kobe Bryant, Jackson has climbed the NBA mountain 10 times. I don’t care if you don’t like Kobe or the Los Angeles Lakers. The last series reminded me of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. It brought back good times in the NBA, with Kobe reminding me of a 6′ 7″ guard out of UCLA. Of course there will never be another Reggie Miller, but Kobe comes close to his style of play. Like Miller, Bryant has the killer instinct. If you don’t shut down Kobe, he looks like Reggie. He carries a team on his shoulders and gives the Lakers that killer attitude.

Mandan - It was a day that most Lady Braves fans thought would never come. Greg Amundson, who won 9 state titles with players such as Rebecca and Jessica Kielpinski, resigned as Girls Basketball Coach of the Braves on Monday afternoon. Amundson leaves behind a winning tradition at MHS. The reason for why he’s leaving is because he wants to be closer to his son. Amundson will blaze a new trail in Minnesota. A replacement has not yet been named for Amundson.
Mandan sent players to several different colleges with a winning attitude, which is a credit to Coach Amundson. The list of players include: Kayla Rogers (U-Mary), Rebecca Kielpinski (Alaska Anchorage), Jessica Kielpinski (New Mexico State). You will hear more from the players who knew what Greg Amundson was like, not only as a coach, but as a human being. JeremiahBoyce.com is in the process of tracking down several former players who wore the black and white under the leadership of Greg Amundson.
Jackson Greatest Coach in NBA History

After winning six championships with Michael Jordan, North Dakota’s native son Phil Jackson finally passed Red Auerbach (9 championships as a coach) with his 10th on Sunday night. The Lakers made sure there was no magic on this night, as Kobe Bryant put the Magic’s dream season on ice. Jackson was seen wearing a yellow hat, with the Roman numeral “X” on it, that his family had made for him. This was Kobe’s 4th championship. He was also honored with the Bill Russell Finals Award, which symbolizes the Most Valuable Player of the Finals. This was clearly Kobe’s team. Gone are the days of Shaquille O’Neal, who went to Phoenix. This was a bitter end for the Eastern Conference Champions, who had defeated Cleveland and Boston to get to there 1st NBA Final. This championship gave the Lakers their 15th title (they need 2 more to tie Boston). Final Score: Lakers 99, Magic 86.
No Ring for James

This year there was none of Michael Jordan’s magic in Lebron James, except when he hit a three-pointer at the buzzer. James wears the same number as his prior counterpart. There was no magic in these Cavaliers, instead we get a Dwight Howard/Kobe Bryant NBA Final. Can the magical run continue for Dwight, or will Kobe and the Lakers write a movie of their own?
The Match-Up: Kevin Garnett vs. Derrick Rose
April 23, 2009 by jeremiahboyce · Leave a Comment
Gone are the days of Michael Jordan. Perhaps, the statue of Michael outside the United Center could bring Chicago it’s seventh championship and provide inspiration for the young Bulls. The Bulls, who are playing against the legend of the former Celtic Larry Bird, are trying to dethrone the NBA kings. Maybe the Bulls should go outside the United Center and touch the statue of MJ for good luck.
Jordan, who was the NBA’s best when it counted, was part of a Bulls dynasty that has brought Chicago six championships. The series revolves around the Celtic’s Kevin Garnett and the Bulls Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose. Can Derrick come up rosy against the Celtics, or will the gentlemen from Beantown have the luck of Larry on their side? If these Bulls are to return to the days of his Air-ness, Derrick Rose must be like Mike. The Bulls must have a floor general, like Michael was.
