Blaine, Minnesota. Wednesday night was only the first of 60 games, and despite the fact that the scoreboard indicated a Bobcat loss, there is still nothing to worry about. Obviously, you want to have points in your opening game, but the puck just didn’t bounce our way. Whether you want to call it too much looking ahead, the Bobcats just ran in to a “Soo” team that was ready. If you are Coach Sedevie and Coach Roth, than it’s better to have a loss now early in the season than to have a loss later in March or April. Aaron was his usual super self, even though the scoreboard did not go in Nelly’s favor. This is a team that is going to go through growing pains until the younger guys learn how to defend better. That’s why you have games and coaches that can teach the younger guys what not to do. It isn’t always the veterans’ fault. Some of the veterans can lead by example, and show how you bounce back from an opening day loss and not let that ruin the rest of your season. The thing that really impressed me was that the team really showed heart. If I know Layne, this loss will not sit well with the third year head coach, because for those of us who cover Bobcat hockey and see the fiery passion I see in Layne’s eyes when I talk to him, then you know that he is not going to be happy with last night’s performance. Most teams could have folded under the weight of a three goal hole, but the Bobcats didn’t do that. That right there is credit to the coaching staff. I would also like to give credit to the Bismarck Bobcat team who represented their logo with honor by never giving up. The face-off time tonight against the Amarillo Bulls is 8:15pm, with the pregame show at 7:45pm on Super Talk 1270 AM.
