Bismarck, ND. With the Bismarck Bobcats gunning for a fifth straight title, no one said that would be easy to accomplish. Coming out of the Showcase, it looked like most of the pundits would be right. But when you have a Bourne Cup champion alongside a mastermind of hockey on the bench, 1 and 3 looks like nothing. On this very same website a week ago Sunday, I told those of you in Cat nation not to worry. Now, the Sheriff looks like a great prognosticator, because of the Bobcats’ sweep over the Monsters out of Fresno, California. The sweep of Fresno, although it is early in the season, should send a message to the rest of the Central Diision that the road to hockey’s promised land still goes through Cat town. There were some inexcusable moments in the Monsters series, for example fighting with less than five minutes to go in the series. Also, Adam Knochenmus took a penalty that made the Sheriff want to say, “knock, knock, anybody home?”. There were plenty of highlights on and off the ice on the weekend. Some of these highlights included the play of Grand Forks Red River High School product, goalie Bryan Nies, and off the ice, the retirement of the jersey of a close personal friend and one of the best assistant coaches the Bobcats have ever had, number 27, Garrett Roth.
