Sheriff Takes Swing at America’s Pastime

0

Boston – “Big Poppy” David Ortiz is facing allegations of more enhancement drugs.  This does not bode well for baseball.  This is the 2nd player, to go along with the Yankees Derek Jeeter, to run a foul on baseball’s drug testing policy.  The LA Dodgers and Major League Baseball handled the Manny Ramirez situation well.  Are they going to let “Big Poppy” escape from justice?  There seems to be a pattern developing.  When you put the players in front of congress they remain mum on the subject.  What kind of message does that send to children?  It’s OK to take steroids in major sports?  I don’t think so.  MLB is not above the law.  Something is wrong with America’s pastime.  It might as well be called America’s steroidal pastime.  MLB is full of deceitful players on big market teams.
Could this happen in Minnesota?  Yes.  We haven’t heard any Twins players being accused of violating MLB’s drug policy, but we’ll keep our eyes on it and monitor the situation very closely.
