Johnson’s Blunder Proves Costly

0

Brooklyn, Michigan – The #48 had it in the wind and was seemingly uncatchable on Sunday afternoon, but he and Greg Biffle were racing furiously. That cost Jimmie Johnson his first ever win at Michigan and allowed a surprise winner, 50-year-old Mark Martin, who was sitting back waiting to pounce on Biffle and Johnson’s mistakes.

That relegated the 3-time champion, Johnson, to a 22nd place finish.

Johnson remains 3rd in points, behind leader Tony Stewart and Hendrick teammate Jeff Gordon. With the win, Mark Martin now moves up to 7th place in the points. The series now moves on to Sonoma.
