Charlotte, Notth Carolina. Mother Nature had other ideas on Saturday night, so NASCAR decided to make the drivers wait until Sunday to start their engines to find our who will get a free ticket into the eliminator round. The defending champion of the Bank of America 500, Kevin Harvick, had to win at Dover to make sure he was even a participant in the festivities at Charlotte. One week ago, that was all you heard on channel 90. Will Kevin Harvick make it in to the second round? After he claimed the Monster Mile, the answer was yes. So how would he do at Charlotte? He would finish number two behind the 24-year old Joey Logano from Middletown, Connecticut. Nobody could lay a hand on Logano, or his car for that matter. His crew chief Todd Gordon and the 24 year old Logano can take a free pass for the remaining races in this round. Meanwhile, some of the other drivers in the Chase have to fight for their lives and work hard for survival, such as Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick, even though Harvick got a second at today’s race. The only thing that will help the defending champion is to win either at Kansas or Talladega. Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson got into an accident on pit road that put Busch in a position of having to win at Kansas or Talladega. Dale Earnhardt Jr did not fare much better, either, as he finished three laps down. He will head for Kansas and Earnhardt country needing to win to keep his dream alive. Jeff Gordon is also in the title fight as well. If you are a Hendrick fan, sorry, but your other drivers did diddly squat today.
