The North Dakota State Bison are in the process of trying to do something that is unthinkable – climb the mountain for an unprecedented fifth time. But as we learned yesterday, Bison fans, the Montana Grizzlies were hungrier than the Bison, with a final biting score Griz 38, Bison 35. There were several bright spots for the Bison. One of them was the six foot six inch Carson Wentz. Wentz is not to blame for the setback, but the Bison defense needs help. Last year’s punter and now field goal kicker Ben LeCompte seemed ready to go. And the Bison running game was remarkably good to go along with Carson. But Jordan Champion did not play like a champion. He made several mistakes that cost the Bison late in the game. For example, there was a holding penalty on Champion and he knows better than to do that. Luckily for the Bison, they have two weeks to figure out how to get their championship mentality back, or else this could be a long season, folks. Stay tuned to to the mighty JeremiahBoyce.com for your thundering herd coverage, and you can listen to Scott Miller when he talks to Chris Kleiman on the mighty 790 KFGO from 7 to 8 pm on Monday. The Bison will raise another championship banner at the Fargodome before the game on Saturday, September 12.
