Abby Wambach missed her P.K opportunity, but Carli Lloyd did not. She buried it in the Columbian net, which knocked Columbia out of the round of 16, and sets up a date with China for the U.S in the semifinals in Ottawa, Canada, Friday night at 6:30pm Central time. In my opinion, the U.S needs to play better soccer if they want to hang around until the championship game. They need to have better defense, and cannot rely on Carli, Abby, and Hope all of the time. The defense needs to be better. Just like in the NFL they say defense wins championships. The U.S soccer team needs to play better, and learn how to push forward. The team will not get away with two to nothing results. China will exploit the U.S defense, and go right around it to find where Hope is weak.
I believe that Carli will have a good day, but I do not believe that she should be the only one that should have a good day. Megan Rapinoe needs to put her big girl shorts on, and show us what she is made of, because Carli and Alex cannot always be the saviors. Somebody else is going to have to step up. Instead of missing the net, why not try hitting the back of the net in a big time situation, like a penalty kick situation, so the fans do not have to rely on Alex to make up for it?
