While many of you may have expected Brad Keselowski to win the Great American Race, it was a 24 year old from Middletown, Connecticut who helped deliver Penske his second Daytona 500. Penske has won 15 IndyCar series championships, and this is his second Daytona 500. His first victory was with Ryan Newman, who is a native of South Bend, Indiana. Until yesterday, Newman was the only NASCAR driver to help Penske taste the thrill of victory in the Daytona 500. The 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion, who is a native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, was not able to experience the thrill of victory in the 500 due to a crash that left Penske with only one bullet remaining. That just happened to be Joey Logano. Here are the point standings after the Daytona 500. Joey Logano is first with 47, last year’s champion is in second place with 42, and last year’s Daytona 500 winner, Dale Earnhardt Jr., is third with 42. Number one does not mean anything, the drivers have to race all 36 races, and the drivers need to be consistent all year long. Just because Kevin did not win yesterday, does not mean that he is not ready to defend his title.
