The Sheriff’s Patrol had a chance to interview the Bobcats’ Head Coach and General Manager Layne Sedevie over the phone on Wednesday afternoon. The coach was surprisingly calm, even though his team’s record is 6-8. The Sheriff’s Patrol asked Coach Sedevie what he thought of the mistakes that his team was making. He told the Patrol he was surprised. “After beating Austin in our building and going down to Aberdeen and having a really good weekend, playing well in Minot on Tuesday in the exhibition, I thought we were taking steps in the right direction. Instead, we took two steps backwards. We made too many mistakes. We didn’t manage the puck. That’s been our Achilles heel all year, and something that we definitely need to clean up moving forward.” Coach Sedevie was very serious about this weekend when it came to Marty Murray’s Minotauros team. “It’s a big weekend, looking at the schedule and the standings. We haven’t played Minot yet in a game that matters. It’s a big weekend for us, so we want to get off on the right foot starting Thursday, following with Brookings. They’re interdivisional games, so points matter so much right now.” The Bobcats are currently in last place in the division standings, one point behind Brookings. Being a Head Coach and a GM of a Junior A hockey team is not always easy, especially when you are used to winning five championships in a row. Up until last year, Cat-Town was used to celebrating the Central Cup, but Austin took it away from us.
