Bismarck, North Dakota. After a thrilling 7-2 win on Friday, it was anything but thrilling on Saturday, as the Wings soared over the Bobcats 5-3, pulling Roth and the Wings even at one. Those of you who read my previous post know what I thought the keys to the series were for a Bobcat win. And on Saturday, the Bobcats looked lifeless and disinterested in stopping the high flying Wings offense. Tommy Burke did not have his head screwed on right at all. It was evident when he and his nonexistent defense let Cory Ward walk right in and bury it five-hole. That wasn’t the only time Burke looked like a sieve on Saturday night. What’s worse, Steven Oberzanek was acting like a buffoon on the ice after he scored, celebrating in front of the Bobcats bench. And to make matters even more inexcusable, Layne Sedevie, whom I have supported many times on this website, and who was named Coach of the Year by this website, couldn’t keep his mouth shut when moments got heated. Layne, you claim to be a head coach of the Central Division champions. On Saturday night, you and your team looked like chumpions. This leaves a Pete Sauer taste in the Bobcats’ mouth as the team heads back to Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen. This was a team who allegedly had a shot at the Robertson Cup. Now, they must grow up and face the music.
